UPDATES IN RISK MANAGEMENT
Saturday, May 3, 2014
Massachusetts Medical Society, 860 Winter Street, Waltham, MA
Program Description
Providers must be involved on multiple levels to help shape the rapidly evolving healthcare system. Healthcare quality is being increasingly measured, reported publicly, and questioned by all interested parties. There is a great urgency for physicians and their staff to determine how to improve their performance. Physicians need to understand principles of quality improvement, various tools they can use to improve performance, the role of IT in improving outcomes, and how to reduce costs while improving quality.
The growing Accountable Care Organization movement, particularly strong in Massachusetts, creates a further challenge for physicians to understand all of the systems and tools that they need to implement.
The Adoption of Maintenance of Certification and Maintenance of Licensure in Massachusetts will have an impact on physicians. Physicians need to understand the goal of MOL and MOC and the need to continually improve public safety and quality of care.
This meeting will look at the equity and disparities in healthcare delivery and how electronic health records and ACOs may impact the healthcare quality and safety. Physicians as champions of their patients' care need to be vigilant about equity in access to care and quality.
